SSMA increased our Symphoria sponsorship to $19,000 for the 22-23 season.

These funds underwrote the Holiday Pops concerts in December, the Casual concert in March, and the 3 concert Kids Series. 

23 in '23
The SSMA awarded funds totaling $56,200

to these 23 Central New York music organizations for 2023.
The largest to date, SSMA is proud of its over $75,000 in support.

SSMA Grants Support Music Education

  • CNY Jazz Arts Foundation

    • Training and mentoring youth in a pre-professional apprenticeship

  • Symphoria Youth Orchestra

    • Tuition assistance for student musicians with financial need

  • Syracuse Children’s Theatre

    • Tuition assistance for students in foster care and from low-income families

  • Symphoria Artists in Residence for 3rd Grade Literacy

    • Help 3rd graders transition from “learning to read” to “reading to learn.” In- school curriculum with the Symphoria String Quartet includes introduction to instrument lessons

  • Brady Faith Center

    • Summer music lessons in singing and drumming for urban children and youth

  • Society for New Music

    • Development of student composers thru the Rising Stars Concert, the Composers in the Schools, and the Young Composers Corner
